Image Blocking With Yahoo! Mail

Block unwanted images and graphics from being downloaded when you open your emails.

What Is Image Blocking?

Another weapon against spam provides Yahoo! Mail users the ability to block HTML graphics - i.e., most of the images in emails you receive - from being downloaded when a message is opened. This optional feature protects you from viewing images you may not want to see.

This feature also protects you from web beacons, which are invisible tags within an e-mail that trigger an alert back to the spammer that the e-mail has been opened and the address is "live."

How To Set Up Image Blocking

You can choose from several different settings for Image Blocking. You can view these options by visiting the Spam Protection section of the Mail Options page.
